Accommodation in Seville and Granada

Just beginning my research for an autumn trip to Spain that will include Seville and Granada.

Looking at apartments and surprised at all the good options. Just curious what I should be looking for location-wise. We will be traveling by train.

Any suggestions regarding areas to stay in appreciated.

We did not stay in apartments but I can tell you the neighborhoods where we stayed in Seville and Granada. In both cities we were very centrally located and within walking distance to everything. We traveled either by bus or by train so we took taxis to our hotels.

In Granada, our hotel was located at Carrera del Darro, which is parallel to the Rio Darro.

In Seville, we stayed in Barrio Santa Cruz on Calle Pimienta. This neighborhood is pedestrian only. We had to walk a block or two with our luggage because the taxi could not bring us right to the door. Another very centrally located neighborhood. We walked everywhere. Very close to the Alcazar and Seville Cathedral.

We spent almost a week in Seville in March, in an apartment on Plaza de San Andres, a small square with a couple of restaurants. We loved the location. It is just far enough out of the busy center but still close enough to walk everywhere and with good restaurants nearby. We even walked to the train station, although not with our luggage. The manager/host is fantastic: CH Apartments Boutique.

The apartment we stayed at in Sevilla does not seem to be listed on VRBO anymore, but there is another apartment in the same building, which we found to be an excellent location. It's on Plaza Alfaro, with Calle Agua separating it from the gardens of the Alcazar. It was relatively easy to get there by taxi (there are some location in the Bario Santa Cruz where they have to drop you off and let you navigate a labyrinth to get to your lodging), and we walked everywhere. Can't vouch for this apartment, but the location is wonderful.

In Granada, the place we stayed in the Albayzin had a slightly different name, but it's still in business. It's a little bit uphill or down to get to restaurants and such, but that's true anywhere in this part of town.

we used a company called Spain Select, but when I google now I cannot find them. But that was post covid.
In Seville we stayed around the corner from the Alcazar, in an older area that was lovely.

We also used Spain Select (in Sevilla and Madrid). It's now called Home Club, but looks like it has no properties in Sevilla.

The AirBnB we stayed in Seville also looks like it's no longer available. It was by the Plaza San Pedro, though, and we loved the location. It was close to the Metropol Parasol and the wonderful local market, close to the pedestrian shopping district, five minutes to the Museo del Baile Flamenco, 10 minutes from the Cathedral, and yet away from the frenzy of the area closer to the Alcazar.

Looking at a place in Seville 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral and San Francisco Square, in the neighborhood of San Bartolomé, which is located next to Santa Cruz and few minutes walk from the Cathedral and El Alcázar.

We stayed at an Airbnb near Plaza Nueva in Granada, excellent location and we walked everywhere. The kitchen was sparsely equipped, but otherwise the apartment was spacious, neat and clean. Lots of small restaurants and tapas bars nearby, but relatively quiet since the bedrooms face the rear of the building.

In Sevilla too we stayed in the historic center, walking distance to most of the sights. Just above a huge El Cortes Ingles, the top floor of an apartment building with elevator.

Thanks geetika. Those both look very nice. The one in Seville is already booked for our dates, but we've booked one that I think will work out nicely.
