A weekend to kill

My husband is working in Switzerland 14 days on/14 off. He therefore has one weekend each trip to go anywhere he wishes.
He can either leave from Visp and travel by car or take the train to Zurich, or Milan and leave by air. He recently traveled to Genoa, Nice and Monaco.

He is trying to get ideas for his next weekend. He thought of flying to Cairo but isn't sure if that is the best idea. He can leave on Friday around 3 and must return by Sunday at 4.

Any suggestions on for a weekend jaunt?

Stockholm ? Lisbon ? St Petersburg ?

Why not just go to the airport and see what flights have availability and go !

My husband works three days each week in Switzerland... but he just takes the train home to Avignon at the end of the week.

Disapointingly - no. I am not with him. We spoke last night and it looks as if he is planning his next weekend.= to Corsica. He'll drive to Genoa and then take the ferry to Corsica.

He has been to Stockholm but not St. Petersburg. I'll suggest that to him.

Thank you both for your replies.

Has he spent any time in Switzerland itself yet? In June, I would head for the gorgeous wine country around Lake Geneva like Vevey, Morges, Cully or any of the small hillside wine villages, or to the Engadine or to the even to the Interlaken area, all very close and easy for a weekend and stunninly beautiful. Great hiking long summer nights. Or go up to Saas Fee in about 20 minutes from Visp and spend a weekend of gluttony (and or cooking lessons) at the Fletshchorn Hotel and working it off by hiking around there. Take a look at http://www.fletschhorn.ch/english/hotel/hotel.html.

Also, from Visp he can get to Milan in about 3 hours which is great for a weekend IMO. Make a booking now for the Last Supper, but otherwise, can just see museums, great cafes, shops, peopel –watching and usually great weekend deals on the wonderful hotels.
