A Techie Question

I can't get current topics (on the left) and the messages (on the right) to where they will fit on my screen. I have checked all the preferences (couldn't really find any) and my profile to see if I can eliminated the frames - if that's the problem.

Help! How can I see the topics and messages (from left to right) without having to scroll through each one?

It's not your fault. Someone put a very long URL in the title of their post. The URL stays together on one line, making the topic window run wide. If you go to the "next 50 messages" you'll find that the topic window is fine. We're stuck with this until the long URL works its way down the topic list, or the monitors at fodors step in and fix the title.

Thanks, Ellen. I knew I had seen even messages with long URLs at a normal width recentlly and couldn't figure out why they were back to wide again.

Hi Mama,

When this happens, click the icon that looks like a rectangle on the top right corner. Your screen will fill the whole area of the computer.

That should do it.

Actually, the "full-screen" option does NOT solve the problem described here. The left hand column is only so wide, and any "word" (combination of letters between two spaces) that is "too long" wil vex the lefthand column on whatever page (current or back) where it occurs.

Seems like Fodors COULD write a simple error-check algorithm which would not allow a "word" of longer than ... say, 36 characters, in the message header.

Best wishes,

Rex
