Great idea Ann!
You could turn it into a game, similar to the one we played here in the States, in the 1960's while traveling (actually my kids do this game now)
In the game, usually played while traveling, one tried to be the first to spot a VW beetle car.
points were awarded for different colors, gold Beetles being the rarest (i think!)
So, you all in Europe could design a game where as you count the fodor pins, and maybe award extra points on wearing of a pin with a hot pink jogging suit, or a baseball cap on backwards, or a a person with a Fodor pin being pickpocketed.
the possibilities are endless!

How kind of you to respond to the people that "live" on this board. Looks like we'll see ribbons/logo everywhere! Thanks

Since I have been accused (once again) of "lying and denying", I will (once again).

I absolutely AM in business to make Fodor's Europe forum Pompous (bug red) Ass club logo pins. I now have orders for FIVE pins, and I intend to price them at $2.00 (no surcharge for U.S. "postage and handling" like www.raileurope.com does!)

I guess that means I can now list my company's assets as $10.00 (USD) in "accounts receivable". What's next - - an IPO!!??

In my never-ending quest for shameless self-promotion (or to give away my sole intellectual property "asset"), I list here the viewable file of the logo.

www.geocities.com/rexbickers/PAlogo.htm

When I make the first batch (this weekend?) I will try to take a photograph, and put up a page on my geocities site showing their finished appearance.

Aisling Brennan - - how many orders does Fodor's have?

Let's make this a horse race! Put a two-dollar side bet on who gets to fifty first?
I'm taking a break from shoveling and don't have time to read this entire thread, but can't US travelers wear the pins too?

Rex, you are something else! You could have, at least, acknowledged an idea that was not your own, without even offering a percentage of the profits!

While I am not a member of the PA groupies, I am appalled that you didn't even ask!

By the way, I applied for a patent, working it out with Fodor's. Now what are you going to do?

There are some creepy vicious people here whom I would not ever want to run into, and others, both anonymous and named that I'm sure would make wonderful friends. While you're at it with labeling yourselves, would you add a little skull and crossbones image if you're one of the nasties and maybe a little lace heart if you're a sweetie? e

You're suggesting that Fodors "distribute" a little pin or ribbon or other emblem? You mean free? I don't think so. Are you coming up with an idea for Fodors to sell something? Are you drumming up potential customers for this thing that might be sold? Isn't this a no-no?

It WAS me who first suggested the creation of a "pin" with the www.fodors.com logo as the center "button".

Read back on this thread - -

=============================

Author: Rex ([email protected])
Date: 2/25/2001, 9:36 am ET

Message: Concerned that your ribbon will not be recognized? Or that it might mean something unexpected? How many people have a decent color printer available somewhere attached to a computer on the internet?

Print this - - www.fodors.com/forums/art/lounge_globe.gif - - and make it the center "button" of your (blue - - or any other color) ribbon.

======================

And the modification is my own.

But let's settle this out of court. What percentage of the profits do you want to refrain from filing a patent infringement suit?

(and just to warn you - - i have been a student of hollywood, where my daughter is in film school - - as they always say "there are never any profits").
Rex: Just a simple recognition of expanding an idea and offering me one!

Your profits are, indeed, going to be small. I certainly didn't mean to be. Of course I haven't applied for a patent nor talked to Fodor's, it was just a simple idea for us to recognize each other while traveling. Many people on the forum seem to take exception to the fact that you consider this YOUR forum, but hey, if you don't have a canvas to paint or a song to sing, do your thing!

Send me your mailing address, and I will be glad to send you one as "settlement" of the "suit". And let me acknowledge - - too late no doubt - - that your initial idea was wonderful, as Sandra suggested, and I feel privileged to have had the inspiration to expand upon it.

As to the notion that others take exception to the perception that this "my" forum, I am speechless - - are you all kibbitzing out in the playground during recess, and planning what to do about that bad old Rex?

I answer questions here. People come here and ask them, and I try to answer them. I watch "Jeopardy!" a lot of nights, and I try to answer those questions also. "Win Ben Stein's Money", too.

And there are tons of questions that I never touch, because for those I don't have anything to contribute.

Maybe you all have a fever. That sometimes makes me act strange, too.
