Hi Mary!

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your trip so much-- and that my suggestions were useful to you. I just learned that I am to move back to the US (Boston) in 8 weeks, and I know I will REALLY miss my canalside apartment in the Jordaan! *sniff*

Terra

Welcome home Mary!!

Thanks you so much for your trip report. We leave in less than 5 weeks and are so thankful for posters such as yourself for the information passed on. We will take a copy of your list of your favorites and will certainly try one or two (or more) during our stay. So glad to hear that the Canal House is everything everyone says it is. I, too, will post my observations when we return in mid-September.

Again, thanks for your reviews.

Hmmmmmm. Almost everything about the Jordaan neighborhood seemed wonderful and magical to us. If I had to name a highlight, I suppose it was walking around the neighborhood, especially at night with the lights on the bridges twinkling and couples on dates would ride by sharing a bicycle. Another highlight (away from the neighborhood) was a Let's Go "Windmill and Castle" bicycle trip we took out in the countryside. The scenery was beautiful and our guide, Frederick, was just adorable. If there was a "disappointment" it was probably our visit to Haarlem. There were many pretty buildings in the historic center but it just wasn't what we expected (something smaller and more quaint). We certainly didn't hate it but we spent less time there than we had planned.
