A Day in Santorini
I am going to be in Santorini for one day (on a cruise) this summer.
What are the "must sees" on the island? Any particular wineries or beaches to visit?
Also, please let me know if it is better to rent a car or take public transportation.
Thank you!

How many hours are they dropping you off for? 7am-7pm type thing or are you arriving mid morning and leaving before the sun sets...
You'll probably want to tour Fira, but over to Oia, have a nice lunch maybe - that alone will take most of the day. I don't think I'd mess with a car rental...the buses aren't bad, you can use taxi's to supplement the bus where it is lacking - which all in all would probably still be less than a car rental (and less hassel too). There is a winery (called Art Space? Anyone?) in Kamari I believe - sorry, I don't have my guidebook with me. Hopefully, someone who has visited it can tell you more.
Cheers,
Murphy

I really enjoyed the couple of hours we spent at the Sigalas Winery near Oia (www.sigalas-wine.gr). The Vinsanto is wonderful, and be sure to try the Mezzo, a sweet red wine.

Just returned and loved Santorini. IF I only had a day, the musts are seeing the Caldera from either Fira or Oia. If you like beaches, the Red Beach was fantastic. Take a bus (about 1.10 Euro from Fira) and then take a hike to a cove and have huge red cliffs above you. Not your typicall white sandy beach but spectacular and unique. I did the trip over to the volcano with hike and swim in hotsprings and was disappointed, but perhaps just my experience.

Thank you for your responses.
We are going to be coming in early morning and leaving at 11:00 pm.
So, we have a whole day!
Sigalas winery sounds great...is it easy to get to by taxi or bus? Also, has anyone been to Selene in Fira....is it worth going to???
