Good to hear from you Barb!
We booked those flights yesterday and Hotel Kelebek today! We ended up copying you big time. I hope you don't think we are stalkers...
We are now second guessing our hotel in the Sultanahmet...
On cruisecritic we got a great referral to an Ephesus guide. When we leave Cappadocia, we arrive in Izmir at 10:15. Ertunga picks us up from the airport and takes us on the tour then to our hotel in Kusadasi. We leave for Athens at 11 the next morning so we can relax, a little. All that for $186. Kusadasi hotels are inexpensive. So, Ephesus worked out with Cappadocia after all.
First, we were over budget for the $2400 airfare. Now we gave up the free Sheraton in Izmir to go to Cappadocia (another $400) where a hot air balloon ride and tours are a must (another $600). Hmmm. That's $3400 over before leaving. We will be the first passengers in the history of cruising with a zero folio! And we might be so tired and satisfied after Turkey that we never disembark!
Actually, when you are up for it, I would love to get your Corfu car rental details and itinerary...
I know we can just walk around Venice, Split, Kotor, Dubrevnik and Ravenna. I hope we don't need a tour or car in Crete. I am hopeful that we won't have to spend much in port. We might be so broke that we have to go back to the cruise shop to eat lunch!
