Thanks, yes in Madrid. DH stopped in at VIPS right next to a Starbucks close to the Prado. The international adapter cost 9.95E, not bad.

I've shopped in El Corte Ingles many times (both grocery and women's apparel) and always pay with a credit card. I've never been asked to show an ID.

Boy-did he overpay! That VIPS is outrageous but does a booming business as does the Starbucks.
I remember when Starbucks opened and people scoffed! It's not only always packed but has expanded!
I am always asked for ID at Corte Ingles-I just show my drivers' license, never carry my passport.

Chapla, not at all bad when it's raining and you want to find it fast! Btw, that Starbucks was crowded! Refused to go into it since I can get that at home. However, I am full of contradictions because I stopped at McDonald's last night with the kids because I saw a dessert case. Had some of the best macaroons and chocolate raspberry cake!

Due to the weather, I rearranged our plans. No rain in Toledo so we skipped El Rastro and Retiro and went there instead. 60 degrees and sun. Loved Toledo. Since today is rain only in the eve, heading to Segovia. Would have preferred a break in the day trips but today looks like the best weather for Segovia.

Aqueduct, castle and eating suckling pig is on our list. Any great spots to recommend in Segovia for lunch?

Well, expect you have returned, travelmamana. I hope to read a TR soon. Did I miss the name of the hotel?
