58 Tour Eiffel - no? Ciel de Paris? no? Next suggestions(s)?
On another thread, (actually dredged up from some years ago), I inquired about le Ciel de Paris and got pretty negative vibes. Tripadvisor doesn't provide any reassurance either (one "5" and one "1", neither with any comments) and the prices on the website do look rather high, if the food is going to be just mediocre (I wonder if that is true, but anyhow)...
And the early remarks about 58 Tour Eiffel (formerly Altitude 95, and now completely made over and under new management) are moderately negative. the lunch seating has become virtually cafeteria style, apparently - - and I have been unable to find ANYthing about dinner there. (It's also possible we have waited too late for a reservation there also - - it is 10 days away).
This will be our last night of a 9 day trip (only nights 8 and 9 in Paris); on the previous night we will have gone to Le Train Bleu (a place I have always wanted to go). We're a party of four (me and my LW, my brother and his LW) - - and brother and SIL are certainly NOT foodies. I was hoping for a nice "view" experience (I would still like that idea, even if it meant some tall building in La Defense, for example). Second best would be emphasis on "fun" or
ifferent, especially trendy or modern. But a welcome third category would be simply GOOD (and maybe good value).
Who has a proposal to make to us? We leave in just 48 hours (though, as previously mentioned, this dinner is actually 10 days from today).
Thanks in advance for any replies... and...
Best wishes,
Rex

For a different "view" experience, (meaning not from atop a tall building), I can suggest Au Bon Accueil, in the 7th. It is reasonably priced, good, nice atmosphere, friendly, and if you time your exit after dinner to coincide with the Eiffel Tower's hourly "light show", you will have a very spectacular, very dramatic view, indeed! The location of the restaurant is not far from the tower.

Consider the restaurant at the Musee Quai Branly, Les Ombres. It got quite good reviews when it opened and has what is supposed to be a great view of the Eiffel Tower. http://www.lesombres-restaurant.com/index.html

Ziryab, the Moroccan restaurant on top of the Institut du Monde Arabe in the 5th. Fantastic view of Notre Dame from its terrace.
