One of the flights we're waitlisted on includes a 4 hour layover in Milan on our way to Venice (we're confirmed on a flight that has a much shorter layover but has an extra connection - Madrid - for our flight from Knoxville to Venice). Is there anything to do with so short a period of time - other than walking the terminal, enjoying some wine, etc? We've never been in the Milan area so have no idea of the proximity of the airport to anything worth seeing.

Hi knoxville, the small city of Gallarte is about 10 minutes or so from Malpensa via taxi. You could have them take you to the city center where the piazza is and have lunch at one of the restaurants or cafes. That should work if you plane arrives on time..imagine you have to check back in an hour or so before your domestic flight to Venice. But do check on that as you don't want to miss your flight!
