Hi Lin,
buying tickets for the Teatro Real (no matter the price) is real hard work. Unless you have bought an abonemment, they don´t go on sale until a month or less before the concert, and they begin selling after 9:00 am spanish time. By lunch time, if we are talking about an opera with really good singers, all the decent seats are gone. The chamber concert ones are being sold all from the 3rd of October on, so you will have to decide right now if you want something for next year.

I check the listings at the beginning of the season, write down the selling date on my Filofax, and prepare myself to spend a whole Tuesday morning (it is usually a Tuesday) trying to connect to the server. BTW, it usually works better with Internet Explorer, and you can only buy two tickets per credit card and spectacle.

So, wish me luck. Next 17th I´ll be trying to get tickets for the Andreas Scholl concert. I hope to get them ...

Bye, Cova

Ps. the site to get the tickets is :

hi lin and cova,
They make it so unbelievablly hard and have since I've tried to get tickets (starting in '70)! I've stood in line after line, hr. after hr. ,only to strike out most of the time when I've finally reached the ticket counter. I agree with cova that it's really, really hard work. The Teatre Liceu in Barcelona I find much easier to deal with, and the people at the ticket counter so much nicer and more helpful.

just checking out the website, it says for concerts, (not opera or zarzuela) you can buy up to four per person or credit card and also do it by phone. might be easier than internet.

I will try to buy two tickets for "Il trovatore" with Alagna..I'm a bit hopeless to find them for the "estreno". It's my birthday, hehehe. Anyway, if there are no tickets for that day, I will try for another
