Sorry Rasputin1, I just saw your question. Yes, it was Topo Chiado. We didn't eat there, but it seemed pretty popular. If we had had more time, we would have gone back for a quick, casual lunch or dinner.

I am planning a trip to Portugal for March 2022 and enjoyed your trip report so much. We will have two weeks there, so I'm taking your itinerary and shortening it down a bit. I know March is not ideal for the beaches of the Algave but we would be very interested in seeing the caves there, so I hope that boats might be doing tours then. My biggest question after reading your report is about parking at the places you stayed and stops you made along the way. My thought is that it wasn't an issue since you don't mention it, but other forum posts have said that it can be difficult. Can you share what your experience was with parking your car along the way in your trip? Thank you!

Hello,
I’m glad you found the trip report to be helpful. Regarding parking, we did not have any problems, but the country had just reopened after Covid confinement and it was very uncrowned. I imagine most of the issues occur during normal travel during the busy high season, so I doubt you’d have problems in March. That said, wouldn’t rent a car for Lisbon or Porto.
Regarding the Algarve, I’d suggest emailing some boat tour companies there to see if they have boats to the caves in March. It’s very seasonal there, so I’d be surprised if there were, but I’m not certain. Have fun!

Russ, thank you so much for such a thorough and delightful trip report. I always intend to do the same but fail pitifully each and every time. This has helped planning our itinerary for May! And as others have said, stunning photos! Thank you again!

I've been revisiting your great trip report. I am interested in perhaps having dinner at Lisboa à Noite. I see there are no prices on the menu online. Could you tell me approximately what your meal cost there? I know it's been awhile, but just checking in case. I figure with the euro being so low, this might be the place for the splurge. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I did not keep a record of which boat companies I used. I will say that I checked Google and TripAdvisor and went with ones that had the highest scores, if that helps. Enjoy!

russ, just treated my eyes to your incredible photos that captured the beauty of Portugal so well! We're off to Porto arriving Sunday just in time for Tropical Storm Danielle to drench us for the whole week we're there. So, yours might be the only glimpse I have of sunny Porto and the Douro Valley...ahh, the vagaries of travel...with a train strike scheduled for the day we need to go to the Douro to stay for several nights...next task, finding a driver who can take us. Where's that port when you need it?! Hopefully, we'll see some sun when we get to Lisbon later after a detour to Marrakech...at least it will be sunny there!

Russ,
I very much enjoyed looking through this trip report with all of the beautiful photographs. I wish there was some way to "like" the photos I liked most! But your photo of the Ingreja de Graca in Evora with the vast white ball of the sun overlooking it would have been one of them. And, conversely, the fog you experienced at the Pena Palace at Sintra made me feel better about the overcast skies I encountered there.

If you get sun in Porto, it's spectacular.

Here is the link to their AirBnB listing. Although there is a bit of street noise occasionally (voices, cars), I highly recommend it.
