We are planning to got to Crete for about two weeks next May. I am interested in possible itinerary suggestions as well as hotel and sightseeing info. I am new to this forum so if there is an existing thread someone could suggest I would appreciate it.

My recommendations would be to stay near Chania - Georgioupoli between Chania and Rethymnon is an ideal spot. Chania and Rethymnon are delightful towns with character. My second choice would be Preveli Beach in the south of the island, and third choice would be Elounda with restaurants built over the sea. You can not really go wrong in Crete as long as you avoid awful Malia. I can recommend a delightful apartment but not a hotel I'm afraid.

I've always though Georgiopolou was pretty ... nothing- except for the beach. Am I missing something?

Its pretty to an old romantic like me - with its estuary and wildlife especially turtles, and i think its well situated to explore many parts of Crete.

I don't disagree about location.

I'll try to spend some time there on my next trip
