2 week Italy itinerary

Hi,
I would love some thoughts on our itinerary for Italy this summer.

Day 1- Arrive Rome, train to Florence
Day 2-5 Florence
Days 5-19 Tuscany, based in Montepulciano
Days 9-13 Rome
Day 14 Depart Rome

Thanks a bunch!!

Since you'll be in Tuscany for a longer period of time, don't miss the adjoining region of Umbria (our favorite). Umbria is greener than Tuscany, with fewer tourists and contains such gems as Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Todi and Deruta (for pottery). While you're in Tuscany, don't miss Orvieto at the southern tip of the region.

Sounds like heaven.

Ditto NorCal's comments on Umbria.

Oops,

I think michelle made a typo? Looks like Tuscany is actually days 5 - 9, not 2 whole weeks.

Enjoy Montepulciano, have dinner at Grappolo Blu in Montalcino, and hear the Gregorian Chants at Sant'Antimo.

Buon viaggio!

Looks good Michele (noth that I'd argue with two weeks in Florence . Well balanced and not trying to do too much in too short a time.

If you're staying in Montepulciano and haven't booked rooms yet, check out Montorio. We LOVED it --- it has the best views of Montepulciano and is a gorgeous reasonable place to stay.

You must go to Pienza and eat at Latte de Luna. The food in Tuscany is fantastic and I am sure you will have a great time.

Thanks everyone! We wanted to be able to take our time & enjoy everything- originally we had the Amalfi Coast in this trip, but put that on our next time list.

akila- we do have a place in Montepulciano- Il Rondo, but thanks for the recommendation.

Happy Easter!
