Beavis-good advice by another poster...keep checking the Thistle website, they have good deals time to time. I knew somebody who knew somebody who works for Thistle Hotels, and was able to get me such a good rate.

b-sorry, I did not see if the new Bath Spa hotel was open. While I enjoyed Avebury and am glad we went, I would have liked a full day in Bath. We arrived in Bath around 1pm. Most things start closing down around 6pm or so. We sort of rushed through the Roman Baths. If you are the sort that needs to listen to every little fact, you could spend quite a few hours just there. The people we were traveling with were going to continue their trip by traveling the countryside with the rental car, so we actually took the train back as we left for the US the following morning. The 7:20p train got us back to Paddington around 9pm. So the good part for us was we did not have to return the rental car!
