Advance Tix purchase for Tower- Do you really have 7 days to use?
I'm about to purchase advance tix for The Tower of London, Kensington Palace and maybe Hampton Court thru www.hrp.org.uk. Under tix information it says that tix purchased in advance will be good for seven days from the date I select. But when you go to buy the tix, it doesn't say anything excpet for the date that I choose. Does anyone know if I pick May 19th if the tix will really be good for 7 days from that date? The order in which we do things may change as we move along and I'd like some flexibility. Thanks!

You can buy them on the day from most Tube stations (except Tower Hill)
If you want to save money and have a Travelcard (which most visitors to London will have) then you can get 2-4-1 through www.2for1entry.co.uk

Thanks! I'll take a look at that. The travel guides say that you should do advance tix to avoid lines at the tower, london eye and several other places. I'm not sure if it's really that big of an issue. 2-4-1 sounds great. thanks for your help!

And many travel guides aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
For one, there are short/no lines for most sites. Now of course there are lines at the Tower of london - but the way to avoid them is to either buy your tix at a tube station -- or just get there at opening time. Arriving early is recommended no matter where you get your tix BTW.
You should buy you tix for the Eye after you are in London - you don't want to pre-buy them since they are date/time specific and you won't know what the weather is like ahead of time. BTW - if they are just vouchers for the Eye - you'd still have to stand in line to exchange them for tickets.
And someplaces - like Westminster Abbey - even having advance tickets doesn't save you any time since you have stand in the same queue for security . . . .

CodyC, how long will you be in London? The 2for1 deals apply in conjunction with a train ticket or a 7 day (or longer) travel cards. They don't apply to 3 day travelcards or to pay-as-you-go loaded on Oyster. We were able to use the 2for1 with our Gatwick Express round trip tickets.

Yes I was looking at the 2-4-1 deal and unfortunately don't believe we can take advantage of it. We'll only be in london 3 1/2 days. We'll take your advice and buy tix as we go. That offers the most flexibility and least amount of stress. thanks all.
