HELP! - my husband and I are celebrating our 1st anniversary with a trip to Europe. We are going to Dublin, London, Paris and Prague for 2 weeks. We've just decided to look into another city to visit instead of Prague due to the flooding. Can anyone give me any suggestions of another city to visit for 2 1/2 to 3 days flying from Paris? We'll be in Europe Sept. 3-17th THANKS!!

Are you flying back out of Dublin or another city? My first suggestion would be Edinburgh if you are leaving out of Dublin since it would be closer to your departure city. There's lots to see and do in and around Edinburgh to keep you busy for several days.<BR>

You have probably already thought of this. I would be tempted to "wing it" for your last days and go back to what I missed or want to see more in depth.<BR>In Sept. you should have no difficulty getting lodging and transport. We did this years ago and went to Amsterdam from Paris, arrived at the train station, went to the VVV (tourist office) and booked a room within walking distance. We had a great 3 days! You may fall in love with Paris and want to kiss your husband on the Pont Neuf (blush).

The only I problem I see flying out of Paris is that it may be expensive. There are not too many budget airlines flying out of Paris, unless you fly to England or Ireland. You should check www.aerfares.net.<BR>My suggestions would be(not in any particular order of importance), Brussels, Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, and believe it or not Krakow in Poland. Brussels and Amsterdam are within few hours on a high speed train(Thalys). I'm judging from your original itinerary that you are looking for historical sites. Krakow is just as beautiful as Prague. It was not destroyed during WWII, so all the old buildings including the beautiful castle are original.The Krakow castle has an excellent collection of art. The old city is walled in. Actually none of the cities mentioned above sustained very much damage during the war. Barcelona has some amazing architecture thanks to Gaudi. Rome, well we all know Rome. Brussels, somehow always perceived as the capital of Europe, and it has some great old architecture, and Amsterdam combines the old with the new(think - having lots of fun). Whatever you choose I'm sure you will have a great time. <BR>

I have not yet been, but friends recommended a side trip from Paris to Brugges when I'm next able to do so. As with Brussels, a quick trip via high speed train. Brugges is a charming small city with canals and historic buildings everywhere. Worth considering.
