Well, we're not mind readers. Your new question is different from your original inquiry and the title of this thread. If you hope to get people to see your new question, you need to start a new thread with an appropriate title. Something like, "Need your help on visiting London in January."

I'm in the same situation, as the original question. But we land in Heathrow at Oct 6pm and and leave in the Morning at 11:00. So what is the weather and will it be dark. Is it save to walk around out side the area at night? What time should we return to the airport in the morning? One last question we will have checked bags but will have a carry on with us, do we still need to pick up our checked bags?

Welcome to Fodors eabaylin. It would be better to start a new thread of your own -- this one os four years old folks very likely will not notice your new questions.
When you re-post -- include WHEN this is because whether it will be dark entirely depends on the time of year.
As for the weather -- unless you are asking about today, no once can say really -- the weather is VERY changeable.
Whether you need to collect your bags depends on if this is one booking or two and possible the airlines involved.
So we just need more info before anyone can give you advice . . .
