Looks good. I probably wouldn't do a day trip to Pompeii but it is not my trip but yours. Don't forget to just chill on a terrace with a glass of wine. Rome is amazing for people watching and I was thrilled on my first trip to Europe to be having a cafe on St Mark's Square in Venice.

Have a great time!

Do you already have your day long bike ride in Tuscany booked? If so, I'm curious which company you're using. We are wanting to travel in October for our 30th, so your information is really interesting to me.

Hi Salmongirl,

We were looking at Tuscany Bike Tours. They have great reviews.

Day 6. This will be a long and probably tiring day. How early did you plan to leave Rome and reach Florence and what do you plan to do with your luggage after you arrive?

AFAIK, the climb to the top of the Duomo opens at 8:30am, the Museum of the Duomo opens at 9:00am, and the Duomo opens at 10:00am. The climb and the museum close at 7:00pm, and the Duomo closes at 5:00pm on Mondays. I highly recommend you also briefly see the Baptistry which is opposite the Duomo's main doors. On Mondays, the Baptistry is open 8:15am-10:15am and 11:15am-6:30pm. Just seeing the Baptistry, the museum and the Duomo (without the climb) could take most of the morning. Add the climb and it's now time for lunch.

How long and far is the Renaissance Walk? Without the Walk, you'll already be walking over 4 kms. There are a couple of segments between points where you could take a bus, but that could take more time overall in an already busy day. Likewise, I don't think taxis would help much.

If you don't already know, entry reservations for the Brancacci Chapel are mandatory but free. Groups of only 30 people at a time are allowed to view the chapel and for just 15 minutes. You should get your reservations in advance and arrive a few minutes early.

Thanks Jean! I haven't figure out what time we would arrive, but the Ranaissance Walk is a quick one. (Probably about an hour).

Thanks for the tip on the Brancacci Chapel!

Hi puravida1984,

I hope you plan on writing a trip report when you get back!

My wife and I are hoping to take a trip next May (2017), and Italy is at the top of the list. 12 days is about right for us too, so I'll be very interested to hear how your trip turns out.

Cheers!

I'll definitely do it, ApK. We revised our plan to stay in Florence 3 days instead of 5 and then stay two nights in Siena. I'll post my final itinerary once it's more firm.
