Who is Sam Suneet, or Faina’s UPS adventure.

I don’t mean to be mean to anybody, my English is so far from perfect, just a funny conversation for all to enjoy.

Came home on Friday to find the yellow UPS note of attempted delivery. As I hadn’t expected anything from anybody, tried the website to see if the sender is listed. Jacksonville, FL, hmmm…

Called the 800 number, the sender is Sam Suneet. WHAT??? I don’t know anybody by name Sam who’d send me anything from Florida!

No, it’s one word, came the reply, and she tried a different approach. Samsoneet.

Puzzled silence on my side of the phone, so she spelled it out for me. S-A-M-S-O-N-I-T-E.

Oh, now I know! Princess cruises is having a promotion sending their customers free luggage. I hope to receive it today at work if the girl got the address right.

Thats cute Faina. It reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me. Her last name is Zwicker. She ordered something by phone and they couldn't understand what she was spelling so she said like "wicker with a Z in front of it. The parcel came addressed to Mrs. Z Wickerbasket.

LOL but I think I can top that.

After losing a job, I went on COBRA. The dentist was not sure how to process it, so I said, just charge my credit card, and I will deal with the insurance later.

The reimbursement check came payable to Faina Cobra Again.

Mr Again was ecstatic questioning me how did they figure out what I actually am

We have a friend who worked in customer service at a major credit card. She told a funny story about speaking with a customer who swore she had never, ever shopped at the "Payment Thankyou" store and wanted the charge removed from her car.

Friend tried for along time to explain that this was not only a credit rather than a debit, but the they were saying Thank you for your payment. In that case, I hope it was an issue of English being the second language and not stupidity.

Got the suitcase. It's a nice 2-wheel black 24", Princess' logo is only on the removable luggage tag.

Thats a cute story. Many things can get lost in translation so to speak and I made a huge language boner once. As my wife is Indian we went there on our honeymoon. She told me a term of respect in Hindi to use when addressing her eldest sister. One day I saw her with a few friends and went to her, spoke her name and used this term. Instead of smiles and laughs I got stunned silence and looks of like "Oh my God what did you say!" As it turned out the way I pronounced this term made it sound like I was calling her my old goat.

I have never received anything form Mr. Sam Suneet. Princess Cruise had only lost my luggage (in Alaska last yer) and not send me new luggage.

With the typos, I am not much better. I keep telling people to check out pubic areas on the cruise ships and Mrs. FainaAgain keep telling people her husband likes to play the slut machines.

A good friend of mine is German and her last name is translated to Engish meaning basket weaver. The English pronunciation for her last name is Wannamaker.

I also have a friend from Holland with the last name Vader. (Vader means father) His wife is a big Garth Brooks fan and named their son Garth.

My dentist last name is Au (pronounced as ow). He is a wonderful dentist but I wonder how he managed to keep bis patients with a name like that.

(only mine is not a typo, but a purposeful mis-use)
