Weddings on board

Marie, while we didn't get married aboard the ship, we did have our reception there. We took a 3 night Bahamas cruise aboard Majesty of the Seas, got off the ship in Nassau and got married at the French Cloisters on Paradise Island, then went back to the ship for our reception. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous (you can email me directly if you are interested in seeing pictures, and I will send you the link), and the reception was okay, but not bad. We had one of the bars to ourselves, they set up a buffet-style table with a bunch of hors deourves (they were very tasty) and had waiters/waitresses come around and take the drink orders. They would wait about 5 minutes before filling the drink orders to kill time because it was open bar, but overall it was worth the money ($16 per person for an hour of open bar and hors deourves, plus we got a DJ for free and a free cake). My biggest complaints would be the slow service, the DJ was HORRIBLE (I would suggest burning a CD of your favorites and just have them play that), and they spelled our names wrong on the sign, but overall it was fine and everyone had a great time (we had 60 guests). Email me if you have any other questions, and I will try to help.

It is always hard to find good entertainment for a wedding, but corporations pay their DJ's on an hourly rate. A good wedding dj will spend several times with you coordinating everything. Before I was an engineer for radio I dj'd for almost 20 years. It is not any easy task. Burn a cd for:
1) cocktails
2) entrance for wedding party and Bride and Groom
3) Dance with bride and groom respective parents
4)And then wedding music

This will help to insure no matter how bad the Dj is all he has to do is push a button and fill in the blanks.

www.promoonly.com is one of the best sources for current music. I have dj'd over 500 weddings so if I can help in that area please post your questions.
Congratulations!!!!

We were married on board the Galaxy in 1997. At the time, a company called "A Wedding for You" in Fort Lauderdale handled all the arrangements. We were faxed menus and such and did everything by mail. The company tastefully handled decor in the ship's library, and got our 17 guests all required security clearances and early boarding passes. After the ceremony in the library, we did photos around the ship and then had a sit down full luncheon in a section of the ship's dining room. It was spectacular! I believe the line itself now handles all of the arrangements, but if you can find a ship that still uses "A Wedding for You" (Karen Emory was our planner, I believe), I'd trust them implicitly! (It was also pretty fortunate that we were able to tour the ship prior to our wedding date since the Galaxy was fresh from the yard at the time and we wouldn't have seen her until the day.) /jc
