we'd like to get married on board ship

We're from New Jersey as is most of our family and friends. We'd like to get married on board ship either in NY or NJ and have our guests sail with us (preferably to the Caribbean). Does anyone have any advice, recommendations and/or experience?

I understand cruise ships do this all the time. I would pick a cruise ship out of Bayonne. I understand it is a very cruise friendly port.

I believe Princess is the only ship that can marry people on the waters. The other ships must do the ceremonies before the ship leaves port.

Most of Princess ships have a dedicated wedding chapel - you may want to look at the Crown Princess out of Red Hook. It starts sailing summer 2006.

Here is a press release from Princess though I am not sure how old it is:

I got some info from Carnival. RCL gave me a hard time getting the info I asked for so I'm betting their service provision will be just as tough to deal with. One person told me they rush you through dinner since the weddings and dinner are before the ship departs. (It's easier to get married in US waters for legal reasons). If there is more than one wedding I understand you all share the dinning room. I was wondering about flowers music etc. We liked the idea of the cruise extending the party sort of thing.
