Tricks to get best prices.

Here is a tip to get the best prices on cruises.
1. Look on the Internet. Do a search for something like discount cruises.
2. Then call about 3 different travel agents and have them spend some time looking for the best deal for you. Then go with whichever one gives you the best price.

If the travel agents complain about wasting their efforts, too bad. Survival of the fittest baby!

Oh no, look out, Paul T and “a travel professional” will be coming out of the woodwork to respond to this?

Why not call more travel agents? Seriously. Once you know which ship you want, then it is easy. Just call about 10 different travel agents, spend about 5 minutes on the phone with each one and then they will do research for you and call you back.

Also you can type up a form email that lists exactly what you are looking for. If the travel agent does not get back with you - screw him! Always go with the cheapest price - even if it is only by a few dollars. That way competition will continue and it really will be survival of the fittest.

By the way, nobody gives a crap about how travel agents get commissions or don't get commissions. We just want the best prices!

I'm with you there --- the cheapest price for the same exact cruise is the one I'm going with!

I think ebay has good deals, at least this is where my sister has bought a couple at great prices.

I think kiki is smoking crack. You cannot buy a cruise ticket on Ebay.

James, sorry but you are mistaken. I bought our Alaskan cruise on ebay (we just returned last week). We were on Princess and had a balcony at a great price. Maybe you're confusing ebay with etrade!! I think you can buy anything on ebay. Marilyn

You can't buy a kidney on ebay. Maybe a colon but definitely not a kidney.

I always call 3-4 travel agents and tell them I am looking for the best price. I am up front and tell them that i am calling others and I will go with the best price.

That way, if the TA is lazy, s/he won't bother looking for you and they won't get the sale. (And I will tell at least 2 people to never use that company).

I have found that Cruise.com usually has good prices.
