Sovereign of the Seas

We are looking to sail on the Sovereign to the Bahamas for a 3 night sailing. We are a family of four with two girls ages 6 and 8. Has anyone sailed on this vessel lately to give me any info about the ship, was it enjoyable?, good for young children?, food , service and accomodations?? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Did that cruise back in June 2001. Nothing sticks out in my head as a bad thing. Would sail them again. Their private island is really nice.

We did that cruise not long ago. I felt it was way too short- you hardly have time to enjoy anything. You spend time packing and traveling and before you can relax, it's over. I would do at least a 4 night for the kids' sake.
The Sovereign is quite dated, but still enjoyable. The food/entertainment couldn't compare to the Grandeur or Voyager. CocoCay is a great beach island- the best part of the trip.
We also took a 4-day Carnival trip (Jubilee) with the kids (W. Caribbean) which they liked much better because they enjoyed Key West and Cozumel so much. They thought the food was better and they loved the water slide on the ship. Sovereign doesn't have this.Check out both- you should be able to get good deals on these short trips.

I cruised the Sovereign of the Seas last February 2001 with my 13 year old son. The teen activities were good. One night there was an excellent entertainer/magician. The ship is very dated. Our room was not in good shape and the food was poor. I would not recommend the ship. The weather was poor on our trip and we couldn't make the stop at the beach island. There was very little to do on the ship.
I would highly recommend the Disney cruise for 3 or 4 nights. It is more expensive, but the accomdations, activities, entertainment, and food are much better.

I will not go into great detail but I would highly recommend against this ship. Debbie is right on target with her comments. The majority of the people you will find on this cruise are also very blind to manners.
