Best Cruise Ship for 11 to 14 age
Have been researching a bunch of ships and I have two kids we are taking along. Looking for a cruise that will also have activities for them. They both enjoy basketball and of course doing video games,...really looking at a cruise going to the western caribbean. What do you suggest?

I agree, the larger the ship the more likely they'll have room for things like basketball, etc.
You did not mention the budget you're working with or what YOU want in a cruise.
It is important that you realize that cruise lines primarily use their larger (and newer) ships on cruises that are at least 7 days long. Again, you did not say how long of a cruise you'd be going on. Some cruises call "Western Caribbean" can be as short as 4 days and will most likely be on older, smaller ships.
If this is a first time cruise for you, one of the mass market lines like Carnival, RCCL, etc., would be good for everyone. They are also more likely to have more children of this age on board who are also looking for such activity.
These lines will also offer special parties, get togethers, activities, etc. for kid this age.
Have fun, but remember...pick something that ALSO appeals to you and what you'd like in a cruise.

We chose Royal Caribbean because of our kids ages: 8, 13, 17, & 19. We were on the Explorer of the Seas which offered a climbing wall, ice skating, roller blading, mini-golf, and events like "Family Disco". All of the kids raved about the ship.
Have you seen the commercial for RCCL's "Freedom of the Seas"? It launches in June '06 and is strictly Western Caribbean. It's HUGE and has the surfing thing. We're booked for a March '07 cruise - we can't wait.
One of the things my 13 year old loved was ordering room service.

I totally agree- you can't beat RCCL's huge ships for fun. I liked the Navigator and Mariner the best because of the wine bar and Boleros. My kids loved the ice shows and various other activities. They especially loved Johnny Rockets for hamburgers, lol. There are plenty of wonderful things for adults on the ship- gym, spa, trivia, bingo, casino, shows, food demos, pool games, etc. We're sailing the freedom next january, but so far the prices are outrageous. I think you'd love the Mariner or Navigator.
