Shut Down In Port

Depends on the cruiseline, and to some degree, the port. Cruise lines that tend to have an older clietele have many activities on board while the ship is in port. (HAL, Princess and the luxury lines)

I would not say that any cruise ship "shuts down" while in port. But activities will be limited. Hey -- the pool and the bar and the buffet is almost alway open.

We NEVER get off the ship in San Juan since we have been there sooooooo many time-- we ALWAYS stay on the ship--

WE normally stay on the pool deck and everything up there is OPEN- in addition, the main dining rooms are also open on all the line so you are not limited to buffet meals--

The only thing that closes down are the CASINOS, and the SHOPS.......

It is just much quieter and more relaxing when you are in port and ON the ship----
