Post cruise Hotel in Venice- need suggestions
We're staying an extra night in Venice and need suggestions for a wonderful well-located hotel. As we can't walk too far we would like to be in an area with cafes, etc.
Price range 200 Euros or Us$.

Post this on the European Board and someone can answer you...
You will probably have to take a Vaporetto ( water taxi ) to your hotel area.....
Venice is a walking city---To be in the thick of things you want to be as close to San Marco Plaza as there are tons of restautants there.....or near the RIALTO Bridge- as there are also lots of cafes and some fun shopping....
If you are wheel chair bound-be sure and state that also...
Or if you are elderly and walk with a cane- state that...
Someone on that board can help really well....All the hotels I know take some walking....

Thank you for the suggestion re: hotels on the cruise ship's list. We are staying in their choice for Istanbul and will now look into the hotel in Venice. It would be very convenient to use their transfers, I agree.

Hotel Giorgione! I stayed there last year on my honeymoon and it is wonderful! The European board recommends it again and again... they have a website, but I booked using AAA. We paid about $175 a night. Its a 10 minute walk from San Marco, so you get a feel for a different neighborhood - I would highly recommend it!

Having stayed several times in Venice, I recommend the Hotel Paganelli. The location is excellent and just what you ordered. From the cruise ship, take a water taxi and they will drop you off right in front of the Paganelli which is on the Rive Schiavone right near S. Marco on the Basin. Rate is about 180 euro. We are doing the same thing, staying there after a cruise in Sept. Also, the Alilaguna which takes you to the airport, stops right in front of the hotel. The web site is: www.hotelpaganelli.com
Tell them Peggy DeMayo has recommended them to you. We have stayed there as recently as May this year. Good Luck and bon viaggio!

I really like the Hotel Europa and Regina (part of the Starwood collection) but I'm sure it is quite expensive. I believe it is ranked as a 5 star. Anyway, it is VERY NICE and a great location. You can see photos on starwood.com website. They do have specials though so maybe you could catch a good deal.

To bonlou30, I have heard from the Paganelli that you have inquired about a room. Happy that you did, but the hotel tells me that they have been unsuccessful in emailing back to you, and asked for my help since you mentioned my name. Their emails "bounce back". Hope you see this and can try again.
