Parents are Cruising from Rome to Venice on Princess
My parents in their late 60's and early 80's are cruising from Rome to Venice...
while in port in Florence (Livorno) they plan on visiting Pisa, I am afraid they will miss out on Florence, what do you think?
Thanks in advance for your input.

All depends on their interests. Are they museum and/or
art aficionadas or would they prefer seeing a building?
To me, to see a leaning building does not compute. However, w/all the art that Florence has to offer, I would definitely see as much of Florence as I could.
If they are not do-it-yourselfers, they should peruse the
excursion schedule before they board which would help in
making a decision.

Have done this same journey on Princess
They can book a day tour to both Florence
and Pisa see all the sights well worth it.
David all the galleries Pitti Palace and the city are done
What I did from the ship a nice way to go
Livorno not touristic Pisa flat just the tower
sort of tourist trappy Pisa not too pretty.
so tell them to go for the Florence Tour.
If they are savy travelers they could just train
over to florence and save some but long lines
to see the sights best do the ship day tour.

Perhaps the limiting factor is energy level. Florence is great, but a trip half way across Italy (the narrow way) and all day walking can be a bit much for some older folks. The sights in Pisa are limited, but famousand may be just right, time and energy wise.

having never been to Pisa I thank you all so much for your input; this is their first trip to italy and i don't want them to miss out on Florence.
their excursion to Pisa includes four hours 'on their own' in Florence sounds like they will be just fine.

Make nsure theat they are well instructed about Florence before turning them loose on their own. Florence is in some ways big and the streets are confusing. Getting lost is pretty easy. Best set a definite itinerary of one or two places to see. Four hours is not long.

If they plan to do Florence museums, they really need to do some research about their timing, and pre-book the museum entrances, or they will waste their day standing in line. Have you thought about a private driver? Considering their ages and the energy this day requires, it might be worth it to have someone getting them from place to place and helping with the planning.
We have done this cruise itinery a couple of times; it's wonderful but sooo much to see. It helps to be organized. The first time we went we took the "On you Own" tour. We had tickets for the Uffizi and the David pre-booked, and then spent the rest of the day walking around, fitting in whatever we could.
