odd questions to ask about the Carnival and the Triumph

1)Does this ship have wi-fi access?
2)What is the power, being from North America, I won't need an adaptor will I?
3)We allowed Carnival to book our airfare as well this time. They have us arriving in Miami at 1pm, IF there are no delays. I asked them for an earlier flight gladly willing to pay the difference/fee. They said that this was impossible- so early to departure. I told them that the reason that I paid the extra money to book the flight was so that I would not have to worry about anything, but they claim that there is nothing they can do. I asked the airline (US Airways) if I could make a change on my own, but was told this is impossible without Canrivals authorisation. When I asked Carnival what would happen if I missed the boat due to the late flight that THEY booked for me- they said "thats not our business, thats the airlines" they had no reply when I said why would you book me on such a tight turnaround...any ideas, besides hope for the best?

1. I'm pretty sure the ship doesn't have Wi-fi.

2. You won't need a power adaptor.

3. 1:00PM should be plenty of time to get you there. Your answer from Carnival is odd--usually they do everything they can--including delaying the departure of the ship--to get you on board in case of a flight delay.

Yes, Carnival Triumph has WiFi hot spots (as do all Carnival ships now).

Power is 110 (flat prong receptacle) and 220 (round prong receptacle) in the cabin (one of each) and a 110/220 outlet suitable for electric shavers only in the bathroom.

Barring any major flight delays you should arrive at the ship in plenty of time--the Miami airport is less than a half hour by cab to the port.

Best, Linda

Our experience with the cruise lines is that if you take the airline package, you are their responsibility from time you get on that plane and until you get off on the return leg. Our table mates on a recent European cruise out of London had bad weather in Chicago and missed the connection to London. The cruise line flew them to the next stop, housed, feed them for two days until the ship arrived. The negative is that you miss a couple days of the cruise but they will take care of you.

Thanks for the correct. Do you know when the WiFi spots went live?

If anyone goes on Triump, please make sure not to book the room below the Kariokie bar. You will be up all night.

depending on when your cruise is. . you shouldn't have trouble getting to the boat intime. . my last experience was in the month of november.. our flight was delayed and we missed our ship and the airline put us up in a hotel with food vouchers, flew us to cancun put us up for a night and then paid for our ferry over to cozumel to catch up with the boat.. and honestly with the weather it would have been more fun to stay in cancun but it was still a great vacation. so i wouldnt' worry..

I don't consider a night in a hotel in Miami with food vouchers and a night in Cancun - prior to a 7 day cruise to be a very acceptable alternative. By then, I'd rather go back home. Not a very stressfree beginning to a cruise IMHO. You've spent more than 1/4 of the cruise not even on the ship.

I always fly in the night before - it allows you to start your cruise refreshed and unstressed. Also, if a piece of luggage turns up missing (as it did for us once) there may be time for it to be sent on the next flight (and there was, fortunately).

I realize it's too late for the OP to make that choice now, but I highly recommend it for anyone else who is planning a cruise.

As to the OP, I didn't check, but I sure hope you are sailing from Miami and not Fort Lauderdale, as that would add a lot of time to the ride to the ship. I personally think 1:00 is tight, but there's nothing left to do now but hope for the best. Most likely everything will be fine. I don't like cutting it that close though.

We sailed the Triumph from NYC to Nova Scotia two years ago had a good time on the ship.

We sailed on the Triumph January 2006. I would recommend taking a power strip. It came in handy.
