traveltoomuch,
My mother (60's) and I (30's) are actually doing a cruise to Alaska in 9 days. We are taking NCL's Sky. This will be my fourth cruise (first to Alaska) and my mothers first. I love the Caribbean (we are from Minnesota), but can't wait to see Alaska.

Just my opinion, but I'm SO OVER Caribbean cruises. The ports are so commercialized and un-inviting. It's nothing like it used to be. I'd opt for Alaska, or the Mediterranean or most anywhere OTHER than the Caribbean. Maybe I'm in the minority because most cruisers do go to the Caribbean because the prices (lots of competition) are best!

Not knowing your likes/dislikes makes it difficult to recomend a cruise option. Do you like a more traditional cruise experience? Are you both active and like excursions to see a lot of natural beauty? Or do you like to mainly enjoy the shipboard life and the excusions aren't as important? Or do you go on excurions mainly to shop? Do you like large roomy cabins with a view because it's important since you'll dine in sometimes and like laying out on your own balcony, or any cabin will do since you won't be in it much? Is it important not to fly too far or not at all to get on a cruise? You ned to decide what you want in a cruise experience and what is most important before anyone can really recommend a cruise line and itinerary for you.
