Luggage storing after departing cruise ship

We will be getting off the ship in Port Everglades at 8 a.m.
Our flight does not leave until 5:55 pm. While we explore Fort Lauderdale is there a place to store luggage before going to the airport?

I don't believe it's too far to the airport from the port. Can you take your bags to your airline and check them in in advance? We've done this in the past at other airports.

maryanne1, if the ship docks at 8 am, and your flight is not until almost 6 pm, you will probably be among the last group to disembark. My guess is it will be 10 to 10:30 by the time you get your luggage.

You might want to factor that in with your plans -- you just may be better off checking your luggage with the airlines then exploring Ft Lauderdale.

Some airlines though don't allow you to check your luggage too long in advance. We were off the ship by 9:30 but our flight was at 3:00 pm...when we got in line to check our luggage we were told to come back at noon! Luckily we caught an earlier flight...

We have also encountered where the airlines won't take the luggage more then 3 hours in advance of the flight in FLL.

Most excursions through the ship get you back to the airport at 1:00 pm.

I would look into a day room at a hotel or look into renting a car. If you rent a car, you can keep your luggage in the trunk and then tour FLL with the car.

I have done the day room before and it was very relaxing to use the hotel's pool and then shower before the flight.
