Low Sodium on cruises

Hi, how do I go about low sodium (or no salt) on a cruise - asking for my 92-year-old father with chronic kidney disease.

If requested in advance, will it be 3 times a day? Or dinner only? Does it depends on a cruise line (he will go for the cheapest)?

All cruise lines are very adept at accommodating any dietary restrictions. They do it all the time. The actual “notification” procedures can vary from from cruise line to cruise line but basically when he gets on board he should see the either the Guest Services Manager or the Food & Beverage Manager and advise him/her of his dietary requirement. They will enter the info in their computer and explain to him in detail what other steps, if any, he may have to take.

I haven't done it but as RoamsAround said, my understanding is they are very accommodating.
