Laundry and computers on Alaska cruise?

Can I do my laundry on Priness Cruise? I really don't need drycleaning at all. Also, would I have easy access to computer on the cruise. I just need to unload photos off my digital camera. Thanks

Yes there are laundry rooms on every cabin deck. They also have irons and ironing boards. I've never used the self service laundry though so don't know how busy it gets.

It seemed to me that their business center had very limited hours, but this may have changed since I sailed last year.

You can do much better with the computers when in port....just go to any Cyber-Cafe or other internet stores. Much, much more reasonable.

Hi,

You can do self-serve laundry on Princess ships. The price varies from ship to ship. I normally bring tide tablets and use that and only pay for washing and drying (about a $1.00 a piece). Though on the Sun Princess, it was free - you just had to pay for detergent.

Computer access varies from ship to ship. The computers on Island, Coral and Star Princess are 24 hour stations. Though I don't know if there is a way to unload photos. They normally restrict this.

The Sun and Dawn Princess have business centers which will home limited hours each day on the ship. They are posted in Princess patter.

If you need to unload your pictures onto a CD - the photo center can do this for you for a small charge.

Hope this helps some. If you post your ship, I can be more specific.

Theresa,
I will be on Island Princess. It's a new ship, only a few weeks old. I am hoping there's a computer center onboard that has USB. I can unload my digital cam. photos and put them on a flash drive. I could bring a laptop, but it's too much trouble. THanks

Hi,

I was on the Coral Princess in June (sister to Island Princess) and only 5 months old when I sailed on her.

I have a picture of the computer stations here (scroll about half way down):

They are basically terminals. On this ship I didn't look for USB connections but have on previous ships and there have not been any. I hope they have them and I missed them (which is possible) but I think they want these to be internet stations and that is it.

Have a great cruise.

The computer center to load digital photos on CD, is it on the ship? or locally on land? Thanks

The laundry rooms on Alaska sailings are extremely busy after the first few days. I always take my laundry off ship and do it in Skagway. Can be done in a little over an hour and have had some great conversations- could also take a walk over to the Red Onion. The laundry is located on State and Second, 1 block down and across the st from the Red Onion. Shuttle stop is 1 block away on the opposite corner- next to the Park Service visitor site- a must see. I also have done laundry in Juneau, Anchorage, Seward, Talkeetna, Fairbanks when I had a car. You can cut down on bulk significantly with a few laundry jaunts. You can also get a CD transfer at Walmart in Ketchikan or Fred Meyer, Walmart in Anchorage, Fred Meyer- Fairbanks, Fred Meyer- Juneau.
