If you only had one day in Nassau..

What types of things are there to do in Nassau. We will be doing a one day excursion and have two teenagers. Not really interested in straw market. Any good beaches besides Atlantis?

The beaches in Nassau are all public including the one in front of the Atlantis. Now, if you want a beach chair, umbrella and some drinks - can't get that on the public beach in front of the Atlantis unless you stay there. The hotel just south of the Atlantis (used to be the Sheraton, but isn't anymore) will let you use their showers, changing rooms, pool and supply you with a chair and towels if you tip the pool boy $10 apiece. Take a taxi to that hotel, walk around to the back and look up the pool boy. The beach is great. After a couple of hours in the sun and surf, shower, pack up and head over to the Atlantis hotel. Go in the Casino entrance, walk straight back to the stairs going down one flight, out the back door and walk around the outside gardens and acquariums. Stop for a drink at the gorgeous outdoor restaurant/bar and then head inside, look thru the shops, stop and play the machines or table games if you like and it should be about time to head back to the ship.

Peter's right (no surprise there)--Atlantis has some very nice beaches. Sometimes there are guys there cutting open fresh coconuts and mixing fresh rum drinks inside--pretty cool.

But if I had to recommend only one thing in Nassua, it would be the Blue Lagoon dolphin swim. Floating on your stomach with one dolphin pushing on each foot so you hydroplane across the lagoon is not an experience you'll forget anytime soon.

Cheers!

If I had only one day in Nassau, I would stay on the ship. Even a so-so day on any cruise ship is still better than the best day in Nassau.

If you have teens you might think about getting a day room at the Comfort Suites hotel. That way the kids will have full access for the day at the Atlantis, all the water sports, slide, lazy river, dig...etc. That way you also have a place to shower and relax before heading back to the ship.

Other ideas would be Cable Beach, there are several hotels there and you can use the beach at the RAddison or the Nassau Beach. Both have nice pool areas and beach bars.

IF your kids like animals you might be interested in the Ardastra Zoo which is close to Cable Beach. Bring quarters so you can get some seed to feed the birds. The Flamingo march is fun as is some of the staff tours you can get.

Have FUN!!
