DH and I did an Alaskan cruise on HL last year and loved it. I did a lot of research before choosing the line and was not disapointed.

V2, you annoyed Jacketwatch so intensly that he actually went to CruiseCritic and started a new thread about your HAL views. Strange---because he has never been on HAL. Boy, did it stir up a lot of controversy---went on for days. But, I notified Fodors and HAL moderators about how wrong it was to carry on character bashing at another site that would have had him banned here. He said some very insulting things!! But, kudos to him for being clever enough to get away with it!! I know you can have his posts deleted from what you see on Cruise Critic. We should be able to do it here, too. I will if it can be done. We should be able to express our views without fear of being bullied.

lindam I don't know what is going on here. A question was asked and many of us replied in a very civil way including Jacketwatch. Then viajero replied also stating that it was their first and only cruise with HAL and went on to describe the problem with norovirus. That would be fine if it was left there but the following comment was insulting and unnecessary

"I know there are a few HAL fans that have a lot of times in their hands to flame posters who dare say a bad word on HAL. To those I recommend they get busy reading on the new Health Care reform if they are going to continue cruising HAL...."

Where did that come from? I stated that I had 300 days with HAL I could have also mentioned the same number if not more with Princess but the question was about HAL. Also I can say that I have never had norovirus on any HAL ship but had a problem on Princess and Celebrity. Would I cruise with those lines again? Definitely yes - they all work towards keeping the ships clean and virus free. I can understand Jacketwatch responding that way even if he hasn't cruised with HAL as it appears to me that viajero started the insults so lets not blow this out of proportion and keep this to the kind of forum it should be. I respect viajero's opinion in that they had the misfortune of being on a very bad cruise but I am not "flaming" him/her for relating that. Just keep the insults to as to time on our hands or recommendations on how we should research our cruises to "him/her self"

I was away this weekend doing what I love to do; travel and helping other travelers that came along. I am sure glad I missed it all while having a wonderful weekend away.

Linda-- don't worry about it, thanks for the concern. My comments were based on past experiences and sure enough, my point was well proved. I was not the one doing the flaming and I did get bullied. It is amazing how all this developed to exactly proved my point.

To all happy travels-- enjoy life!!

Lindy that is funny. And ridiculous. . No names were mentioned and the thread still stands. I posed the question to get an objective viewpoint as who knows V2 could have been right. I always f/u and double check. Thats what I did there, esp. the part about the crew eating in the MDR with passengers and received a good, non-judgemental explanation. Actually your comment here is a cheapshot. Also if you think your "reporting me" will be effective think again. This is like the little girl in grade school report to the teached those she thinks are misbehaving. Grow up. Traveler69 thank you.
V2 you said above you are grateful for having respect of anothers POV. On another thread there was a discussion about the VASA museum and you tried to overrule everyones opinion about the feat it took to raise her from the depths. Following is YOUR quote.
"I am an engineer married to an engineer. Vasa Museum was boring.". OK, boring for you but others thought differently so you showed no respect all. Fine. But don't say you are if you are not. Then later you told me to "get busy" as if I worked for you, trying to tell me off as you have tried to do here. And you say you are being bullied??? I think you had a bad experience on HAL and it seems forever you will have an axe to grind.
Lindy have a nice day.
To the OP: Its unfortunate this thread has come to this. I think you will like HAL and to be clear the reason I mentioned checking CC was to get more info. That is there are literally scores of reviews there so you can see a bigger picture.

BTW here is the topic starter on CC about "HAL.
Comments I find incredible about HAL. Have you seen this? "

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys. We have never been on HAL but are considering a future cruise with them. I read on another board from two posters, both of whom disliked HAL, that they SWEAR seeing HAL let employees sit in the main dining room during prime time dinner hrs. I've never, ever seen this and was wondering if anyone here has. The ships in question were the Veendam and the Prisendam. Your replies will be appreciated. I would like to have more info B4 I reply on that board. Larry
There is no insult here as one can plainly see. Its an attempt to gather info. Some people prefer to research B4 they speak or act. What I found is that crew (officers) on HAL and indeed on other lines can be invited by passengers to dinner and by doing so are encouraged by their employers to be ambassadors so to speak. Actually I would not mind this at all. I would love to get an officers POV on cruising. No problems for me.
Lindy you should be ashamed of yourself for putting such a trouble making spin on this though I do commend you for your research. I mean this thread began in January. You must have done alot of work to dig it up. Anyway you know what they say about enquiring minds?
