Hawaiian Cruise

We took our first cruise in April to the Southern Caribbean and are now hooked on cruising.
Everyone is talking about Hawaii being the next destination in another year or two.
Would appreciate any information in regards to best cruise ships and pricing. Best time of year to go etc.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hawaii is a great cruise! Right now, Norwegian is doing a 7 day cruise through the islands with a stop in the Republic of Kiribati. They have a new ship in Hawaii and the cruise is a wonderful experience. Princess, Holland America, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean also do Hawaii cruises, too. Generally speaking, whenever children are in school and/or when the weather is the coolest is when you will find the best prices. You might also check with a travel agency that may have bulk space on a cruise because that space is often priced very reasonably, too.

Have a great day!

Hawaii IS a great cruise as Juliae says. NCL does have a 7 day cruise. However, two of those days are spent going back and forth to Fanning Island in the Republic of Kiribati. If you want a taste of what life is like on a small, isolated Pacific island is like, this is fine. But it sure cuts down on your time in Hawaii.

Other lines leave from either Ensenada in Mexico or Vancouver and take three to four days to get to Hawaii. Personally, we like the reverse route. Living near Dallas, we can leave here on a morning flight and arrive in Honolulu in the early afternoon their time. This allows you to get on board and get to bed at your liesure to get over the jet lag. Cruise Hawaii for several days and then sail back to the West Coast.

When you come into or leave from Ensenada, you have a 3 hour bus ride from San Diego to the ship. Coming into or leaving from Vancouver, you're right there...no long bus ride. And Vancouver is an easy flight for us.

Celebrity has provided great discounts on airfare...$199 from Dallas to Honolulu and Vancouver to Dallas. It's always worth checking what the cruise line is charging to addon air.

As to Hawaii itself...much to much to talk about. Wailea Beach on the SW coast of Maui is our favorite spot but there's lots of fantastic beaches and places to see.

Go for it...you certainly won't be sorry for it.

Starting July 2004 NCL will offer 7 day itineraries that do not require a stop at Fanning Island. These cruises will spend all of their time in the Hawaiian Islands (if that is your preference). Go to this page and click on the last itinerary at the bottom of the page under the Project America I heading: http://www.ncl.com/itinerary/it_hi.htm

So if you're planning this for next year or later, that's an option.

For roundtrip Honolulu cruises, NCL is currently your only option. Other lines sail one way to/from Vancouver or Ensenada (or even Papeete) and are 10-11 days in length. 4 days are spent crossing the Pacific and the remaining are spent in the Hawaiian Islands.

Here's some more info on the Project America itineraries: http://www.ncl.com/news/pr050603a.htm

Looks like they will also add 3 and 4 day itineraries in October 2004.

We enjoyed sailing Eastbound for 10 days on Celebrity's ship Summit so much this past Sept, we decided to try the Westbound 11 day on the sister ship Infinity this November. Hawaii is awesome and Celebrity has a wonderful product. Try Cruise Club of America's website and ask for Steve. Great pricing on Hawaii, with airfare included on most Celebrity sailings.

Regards...Bob
