Has anyone's cruise ever been cut short or diverted...

due to the weather? I'll be cruising RCCL's Mariner on the 12th and wonder how accomodating the cruiselines are if your cruise is cut short. I notice on their website that several cruises were cut a day. Please share...

If you check the cruise boards you will find that a few ships have cancelled this weekends cruise...others have changed itineraries and/or will just stay at sea. One of the lines for this weekend is offering refunds for another cruise and discounts. Our cruise to Bermuda changed directions when Hurricane hit last year and we went to Bermuda North (Canada)...Don't know where the Mariner is heading on the12th, but the Bahamas are getting a direct hit as a few of the smaller islands.. We've also had a day cut short in Bermuda where we went out to sea which we enjoyed.

Thanks ParrotMom, I'll start searching but it may be too soon for me. We're going to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Labadee. I'll keep my eyes open, thanks.

Weather of course can divert a cruise line if need be.

Also trouble in one of the ports of call willalso divert your Cruise line's course.

I have been to all the ports of call you are going to and they are nice places with no present problems.

On a Panama Cruise 2 years ago ,we were diverted from Columbia to Colon Panama because of the drug trafficking problem and the fighting in the streets at that time.

You have to be tendered fromyour ship to the Grand Cayman Islands, so I hope that 4-5 ships do not arrive at the same time, or it will be like a shopping Zoo there...

But enjoy anyway

...do the seven mile beach drive tour and see the Turtle Factory and the Rum Cake Factory etc...you get to sample about 20 different pieces of Rum Cake!!

You're right Percy. I'm just thinking about the weather and not the other things that could happen.

The 7 mile beach drive tour is where? I'll have to check that out, thanks.

That seven mile beach drive tour is in the Grand Cayman Island.

This is very business oriented place.
The population is 33,000 and they have about 700 banks !!!!!

You will see many fancy places and homes that back on to the Caribbean Sea.

You will see the home( pretty nice ) of the Consulate of the United Kingdom as this is under British rule...so yes they drive on the "wrong "side of the road.

At the turtle farm you have to hold this cute little turtle with both hands and have your picture taken ( typical tourist thing !!).

Then you will stop off at a little place called "Hell".

When you see what is at the back of the building you will know why they called it Hell.!!!!

Send a postcard from here to your friends back home.
The Post Office is right there in the tourist shop.

Then your friends will get an official postcard from Hell!!

Yes ,the Post Office puts their address stamp on it , which of course is "Hell.". ( Cool!!)

At the Rum Cake Factory, which is near the down town area, you get to sample all that Rum Cake..so come hungry...the pieces are pretty big sample...all with different Rum Flavours.!!!

Like Baligirl said...they all taste good.

Of course you can buy some cake to take home...we did!

The biggest problem is which one(s) to buy!! Boy what a problem. !!

Then it is shop, shop , shop, and then shop !!!!!

Then you just walk a few blocks and take the boat back to your ship when you are done.
