Gratuities- automated
Just back from Celebrity's Summit in Carib...
They are offering guests chance to charge gratuities to your Sea Pass account.
What happens on tipping night, do they give you a document to give to your waiter- how does he know you've tipped him - looks a bit off if leaving dining room without handing over envelope.
If any one could advise,
also does anybody know if the Celebrity Cruises in the Med are in dollars or euros for charges on board?
Many thanks.

Morton, Just back off Celebrity's Galaxy. Took a Med cruise on Millennium, and everything was in $$$$.
As for tipping, you could charge tips on your account on Galaxy only if you chose all the recommended amounts. It was all or none. i.e., Waiter 3.50, Asst Waiter 2.00, Cabin Attendant 3.50, Asst Maitre'd .75, Housekeeper .50 per day per person.
Well, the Asst Maitre'd and Housekeeper did absolutely nothing for us, so we didn't tip them, therefore couldn't put any tips on our account.
Went down to the casino and got money on my Sea Pass acount and paid for my tips separately in the envelops they provided. We had an excellent waiter and Cabin attendant, so we gave them extra.
Bottom line, if you tipped all the recommended amounts to all the recommended people, you could put it on your account and add a little extra to the envelop if you desired.
It all seemed a little strange because the the casino cash advance went on my sea pass account anyway.

Morton, they do give you something to put in the envelope to hand to the waiter, and you can then add extra if you wish.
Again, if you want to use that system, you have to tip them all, all of the recommended amounts.

I've read some of your posts. If you've just had your first Bud 2 weeks ago, I've got some swamp land in Florida that I'd like to sell you.
They've got about 10-15 different types of beers to buy on those cruise ships. Hope you can make it on a cruise sometime.
Happy Thanksgiving.
