Can anyone tell me how far/difficult/expensive it is to get to the ship from airports in Miami, Tampa, Cape Canaveral or New Orleans? We are trying to decide on a cruise and one of the considerations is difficulty of getting from plane to ship.

When you've narrowed your choices down to a few, call you TA and ask if the cruise lines you've chosen provide transfers. We've just purchased tickets to London on our own, but purchased transfers from Princess which means we can use their bus from London to
South Hampton to pick up the ship. We like to purchase our own airline tickets so that we have some control. We don't like having to fly from New England to Detroit in order to get to Florida.

Miami airport to the pier was about $25.00.It is a set rate per trip no matter how many people occupy the cab. There were 4 of us. It was much less than the ship transfers. There are a ton of cabs waiting and very easy to catch one. We were amazed at how easy it proved to be!

Thanks. That helps with the Miami area. I know it was easy from Ft. Lauderdale but it helps to know whether the beginning of the trip will be a hassle.

Just came back from a cruise that originated in Tampa. It was $20 to the airport, it seems the taxis have a flat rate. From the airport we took the SuperShuttle to Treasure Island which was $17 per person. The Tampa airport is really close to the pier, 10 minutes with no traffic, 30 minutes with traffic.

All are a simple cab ride to the dock, EXCEPT Cape Canaveral. Best is either to get the ship transfer or rent a car one way. BUT strongly consider coming in the night before, just good sense with the state of flights today.
