Family cruise-50 and 20s
Our family is considering a Mediterranean Cruise focusing on the Greek Isles. We have heard Costa is not American friendly and very smokey. I know about Royal carribean's offerings. Anyone have a comment or suggestion of other lines that would meet both generations social needs?
Thanks

Hi,
Princess, Windstar and Holland America would be excellent choices. Princess has larger ships, generally, and a more casual atmosphere. Holland America has smaller ships with a more classic style with fresh flowers, original art. Windstar has the smallest ships with only a few hundred people, casual elegance and a yachting feel, ships with white sails, sports deck for banana boats, jet skis, kayaks. All have many loyal passengers. They have a wide variety of activities on the ships from spas to first-run movies to casino to wine tasting to libraries to computer classes to kitchen tours.
Princess and Holland America are premium cruise lines and Windstar is luxury/active.
Best Regards,
Julia

I've been on Costa, and thought it was a pleasant enough ship. Although I must say, I've heard Costa described as the European Carnival. Since I've never been on Carnival, I cannot tell you either way. And I must say, I feel I cannot be fair to Costa as we had circumstances (not entirely Costa's fault) which color our experience on the cruise. However, we have said that if we find another Med. Costa cruise for dirt cheap, we'd jump on it, so we're clearly willing to give it another go. Most people on the cruise looked like they had a wonderful time, and they do offer the most unique itinerary.
My only other experience has been with Celebrity, and I would highly recommend a cruise with Celebrity. I believe the Galaxy has a cruise focused on the Greek Isles and Turkey, as we were considering that cruise for the summer.
