Ever get hurt on a cruise?
I wonder whether ports are more dangerous than the USA. I know that the USA is a very litigious society and sues for any little thing, so there are a lot more safety features in the USA.

For example, Chichen Itza has this big pyramid and it seems very easy to fall down and die. they even keep an ambulance nearby.

Has anyone gotten hurt while on a cruise or in a port?

I once saw a man fall over the deck and into the sea on a cruiseliner! It was amazing. He was showing off about how he could stand on a railing or something and next thing you know, the horn was sounding and everything. He ended up in a hospital in Mazatlan which is where we was, and I am told he stay there while the rest of the boat moved onwards. I think he may have sued--a lawyer friend was on the boat with him apparently, but I think he had no one to blame but he and the boat that shouldn't have served him all of those drinks.

People have to take responsibility for themselves! How can a ship curtail someone's drinking? There are many bars throughout a ship, plus numerous opportunities to drink in each port. How or why should a cruise line try to police their passengers' alcohol consumption? That's ridiculous.

To respond to the post - My sister was on a cruise during which a man died of a heart attack after a work out! Twice during the same cruise someone had to be "emergency" airlifted off my ship, but I never heard the details.

A month ago on the Pride some dumb-ass was drunk and walking around the hot deck by the pool. After he sobered up (several hours later) he had to be taken off the ship and taken to a hospital for 3rd degree burns on his feet.

Do not blame anyone but the drinker for drinking-related injuries.

I fell out of my bunk first night, first cruise (RCI). Didn't have railing up and was disoriented, but perfectly sober, damn! I had to get 5 stitches in the back of my head. Met all the medical staff, and got to know/see them around, which was cool. They were great-called me back to see how I was, etc.
Now I stay intoxicated all the time so nothing like this ever happens again.

Folks, remember that common sense is a thing of the past.
We live in a world today of "blame them" not me.If a drunk falls overboard you can bet there will be a lawyer involved in a matter of hours, whether the drunk survived or not.
If someone drinks too much, they want to blame the ship for serving it to them--but how many posts do we see regarding how to smuggle liquor onboard a ship!
People cruise to places where the food and water are not safe to eat/drink but they do it anyway--then when they get sick, blame it on something they ate on the ship.
Sadly, blaming someone else for our woes is now the American way.

I was completly sober....We were on the Infinity and had to be tendered (sp?) to our port. we were supposed to be waiting for our number to be called at the theater or outside on a deck beside the theater. We were waiting on the deck and hadn't heard any numbers in a while, so I went in to check. The doors were completly glass, and had been open the whole time we were outside. In the few seconds that I went in, and asked which number they were on, then turned to go back out, someone had shut the door, and I didn't see it. I badly hurt my head and knee. I had to be taken to the infermery and couldn't leave the ship for a few hours to make sure I didn't have a concusion. Other passengers were stopping at my table that night to ask how I was. I think I fell or something, because a lot of people know what happened....I felt so dumb.
