We are always knee deep in these beautiful, shiny brochures from all the river barge companies that do the rivers from city to city. They all look wonderful.
Most go to the same destinations and see the same sights.
It all boils down to COST and STAFF and for me CUISINE.
After careful evaluation (and checking financial stability) of each....we chose Grand Circle.
We have traveled many times with other European tour companies, i.e. Trafalgar, Globus, CIE
We are now only booking Grand Circle. We were so impressed with our first Russian Cruise that we have booked several other tours beginning next month and taking us into 2008.
We were always satisfied with other companies but now that we have been SPOILED with the competency of the essentials of touring, we are only booking Grand Circle and their subsidiary OAT.
We are extremely detail oriented and did our homework and it paid off.
Whatever you do, if you take a Russian cruise, don't go with a company that keeps you on the boat the whole time. You will spend hours traveling to and fro the ports and that was one reason we selected Grand Circle because they had their guests in fine hotels in both major cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg.
