Dress code for captains dinner for children

My husband and I are cruising in February with our 2 sons, ages 10 and 15. How are they to dress on Captains night for the formal dinner? Suits or dress pants and shirt?

Approriate attire would be sailor suits or crackerjack uniforms

Seriously, the kids should wear the same stuff that the adults wear. If it is formal night, that means tux or suit for boys.

If you cannot afford that, you should reconsider whether you really should take your children into the dining room that night.

For goodness sake don't take them anywhere without their pants on! It can get a bit draughty at night.

to xxx--

Most of the kids wear either a sport coat and slax , a suit OR a tux--
It is always cute to see the kids really dress up in formal attire and makes for a terrific FAMILY portrait...

If they walk in with just a shirt and dress pants, they will feel real awkward.
So make sure they at least have a blazer on with those khakis--

My sons are 10 and 14. The 10 year old doesn't mind dressing up and wore a navy blue suit. The 15 year old hates anything fancier than T-shirt and jeans, so it was a struggle to convince him to wear a sports jacket, tie and nice slacks. He looked very nice, albeit uncomfortable. However, he was annoyed when the men and boys at several tables near us wore Izods and jeans. They didn't seem to feel awkward.
