teenage formal wardrobe

What kind of formal clothing should my 14 yr old and 16 year old daughters wear on the formal nights of a cruise?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that something nice but nothing they would feel uncomfortable in would be the right answer. I don't think teens need to be as "fancy" as adults. Just my opinion.

For girls I would say a nice "cocktail" dress or only if they already have one, they could wear a prom dress, but I wouldn't go out and buy one just for the cruise.

I have a 13 and 10 year old sons, and they wear khaki's and a navy blazer with tie. Something about seeing kids in tux's just brings images of those kiddie beauty pageants to mind, but that's just me.

Our teenage girls wear dresses that they have from homecoming and prom. Their mother and I dress up and they would feel funny if they weren't as formal as we are.

We were on the Carnival Victory over Christmas and most people had on long dresses. A few had on nice short dresses but everyone dressed and seemed to really enjoy it.
