Disney Cruises

Our only child turns 5 this November. We have travelled a lot but this time we would like to take a vacation which would be mostly for or daughter on her b’day!
The first two places came in our mind is Disney world or Disney Cruise! She has not been to any of them & we are planning as the ONLY time trip during her childhood.
1. We came across minimum height requirement for may top attractions in Disney world is 48 inches & the age she can make most out of it, we are NOT inclined for Disney world until she is 8 or 9 years old. Does that make sense?
2. Disney cruise reviews suggest anytime after 3 years would be the best time & may be 5 if u would like them to remember for life-time. We did cruise last year on NCL to Eastern Caribbean with her & to Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean & Princess to Alaska when she wasn’t born. Normally we don’t like to go on a cruise every year but considering want to do something special, we are getting sold for the idea. Considering this is the only Disney cruise we would take her in her childhood, is this a best age?
3. If so, which itinerary except the ones we’ve already been on & cruise ship do u recommend?
4. Are there any other vacation places in USA, which are worth visiting once in their childhood with your kids?
Thanks in advance.

As you have indicated, many Disney world rides may not be the best fit due to height restriction. However, there is the Epcot center, MGM Grand, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and with Seaworld and Universal Studio nearby, a 5 year old would have a lot more choices than you would imagine.

On the other hand, at age 5, the kids club would keep her occupied for most of the day when Mom and Dad can relax and enjoy. She would probably enjoyed the kids club activities, shore excursions, beach and pool etc.

Either choice, she will have fond memories of whatever trip you took her to when she grow up, just different kind of memories.

For the 5 year old, my personal opinion would be the Disney World would be a better fit, and there are much more activities for her. Be fore warn that the parents would be dead tired after this trip as you will have no time for yourselves. But you will have fond memories of seeing her laugh, play and enjoy herself. Don't make the mistake on "scheduling" everything. Let her lead you and if you want to spend hours in the petting zoo, or keep going back to the it's a small world after all ride, so be it. As you have said before, the trip is all about her.

If you choose to go to Disney World Orlando, I would like to suggest that you stay at the Disney Art of Animation Resort. They have themed rooms with Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. Pick the one theme that she likes and book for that specific themed room. The price range is quite reasonable and their are perks staying in Disney's resorts such as early admission, free transfers, discounted Park passes etc. You should also look at the Disney character breakfast events. You can contact Disney direct or work with a local Travel agent.

On the other hand, if you choose Disney cruises, she will also have fond memories of the various activities on board, the kids club, new friends that she made and so on. As for the parents, you have a chance to relax and enjoy while she was kept busy (and supervised) at the kids club.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, and if the budget allows, contact Disney Cruises and book a cruise and theme park combo; then you can have the best of both worlds. Usually it is 4 days at the theme park and a 3 or 4 night cruise, but it can be any number of combinations.
