Dec. 25th in St. Thomas

We will be in St. Thomas on Christmas Day. Will anything be open? We're going to book our excursion in advance I guess. We've been to ST before but not on Christmas Day so I would appreciate any advice on what to expect. Thanks.

We happen to port at Nassau on Good Friday once, and it was TOTALLY closed.

I doubt that much will be open in St. Thomas on Christmas Day itself. I would inquire by phone with your cruise line to see if the excursion really are going to "go" on that day.

I originally posted this some time ago, but as our departure date gets closer I'm hoping someone can give advice about excursions in St. Thomas on Christmas Day. I actually called one of the
businesses offering a snorkeling trip, and they said, "Oh, I don't think we're working on Christmas." Any clues out there? BTW, there will be three cruise ships docking there on Christmas day. Thanks.

Did you receive the shore excursion information from your cruise line?....if they are offering an excursion...the suppliers will have to come through.

Yes, our cruise ship was offering excursions on Dec. 25th in STT which I signed up for, but I wasn't sure if they had to guarantee it would actually happen. Thanks.

Once, more than 5 years ago, we happen to hit two Bahamas ports at Easter time. One was Nassau on Good Friday, and EVERYTHING was closed.

I think realistically that you will not be doing the regular tours if they are employing the native population. We were told that there is a very strong religious tradition. Doubt if they will work on Christmas Day.

I wanted to let others know that the stores WERE open on Christmas day in St. Thomas, and our snorkeling excursion went as planned. Everything was great!
