Hi--we are looking at a variety of river cruise lines for a Danube Cruise for next year. We would prefer one which has an active population --younger than the 70's and 80's we see in some of the photos. I know some tours are specifically aimed at catering to Seniors--can you recommend some which are aimed at a younger crowd--and one which moves along.

We had a previous experience which kept things at a very slow pace for the slow walkers and would like to avoid. thanks.

We cruised the Danube with Uniworld in December 2005. There was a mix of people all ages ranging from 20's to 80's. The tours worked out great on our cruise because they set up "slower" groups and "faster" groups. Of course you can also venture out on your own at your own pace. We had a great time.

On most trips I have been on, I usually find the people from 50s to mid 60s seem to party more than the one youngs, & don't worry about what other think about them, oh its nice to be teenage geriatric!

We were on Uniworld Empress for a Christmas Market Cruise. The ship was very nice, very clean, and the staff very pleasant and helpful. We would go to breakfast and our room stewardess would have the room cleaned before we returned. We had a Jr. Suite which was great, but peeked into the regular cabins and the storage space is fine there also. I think the biggest difference is the regular cabins just don't have the sitting area space and the bathrooms are somewhat smaller. They made great use of all the space for drawers/closets and your luggage will fit under the bed. There was always someone greeting us when we returned on board from touring, either with a glass of gluhwein or hot tea. We thought the food was very good. Buffet breakfast and lunch, 3 choices at dinner plus always standby steak/chicken if didn't like the 3 choices. Recommendations? hmmm, comfortable walking shoes as river cruises generally are very port intensive; if like snacks between meals, bring your own on board (we had cookies and fruit all the time around the ship, and could get nuts/chips from bartenders), but unlike ocean cruises, it is basically 3 meals; you can bring on board your own adult beverages for consumption in your room.

so true, on this cruise there were a couple of upper 50's/early 60's doing tequila shots! And they loved to dance but didn't care what they looked like.
