Hi
We are planning our honeymoon this September. It will be our first trip to FP. We are in our late 20-s.
I would love to do cruise. My fiancé prefers to stay on one or two islands. His main concern to be tied to the ship and that he won't have enough time do snorkeling or islands tours. We like activities and if we go on a cruise, can we get bored?

Is anyone can help me whit this? Some advice? Recommendations?

You won't be bored on a cruise. You may want to pick one that doesn't have many sea days. Check the number of hours that you will be in port to see if you think you have as much time as you want to spend. You can get a taste of many different islands this way.

I vote for a cruise. Spend time picking the right line based on what is most important to you.Then from there find the itinerary with the islands you most want to visit.

My other suggestion would be a honeymoon at Sandals. I have stayed at most and would highly recommend a split between Sandals Antigua and the Royal St. Lucian. Both are gorgeous,romantic and have lots of activities.

Hmmmmm..and UNLIKE cruise lines, Sandals is HIGHLY discriminatory...go for the cruise unless you want to be "tied" to the Sandals' pool!

Personally I love cruises, but I think maybe a few nights in an over the water Bure would be romantic. I hear that some have glass bottoms, so you can see the fish right from your room, and you could go swimming right out your front door.
Is there any way you could maybe combine the two? Is there cruises that start in Tahiti that you could do a few days land first?

Is so, Tahiti is very very quiet- and romantic- with the huts built over the water and the beds with the 4 posters and mosquito netting.....

I would do as another poster says--if possible---stay 2 days on LAND prior to the cruise and then do the cruise...as the cruise has much more nitelife than Tahiti does....

You do have enough time to do an excursion...and yes,they even have snorkeling excursions...

Which ship are you going on as some of the smaller ships have marinas built right into the back of the ships that drop down in port--and they have water skking,kayaking etc from the back of the ship --at no extra cost to you...

Check into the Windstar Cruise line...

I, too, would suggest the pre-stay in Tahiti. Two or three days would give you a chance to relax and rest from your wedding. Set up excursions as you feel like doing them. Shop downtown in the large market (be sure to buy a flower arrangement to keep in your stateroom on the cruise--very cheap and beautiful--under $18 for a large one.) Take a circle tour of the island. Snorkel,etc.

Also, the islands are very close together. You could always visit one nearby by boat that the ship is not cruising to.

We only had one day at sea and that was planned that way because the next island stop was only 30-45 minutes away. All day we just did figure eights in the water to use up time!

I took a canoe ride on one of the islands and the guy said the next island is 30 minutes away if I take you---if you take the cruise ship it will take you all night!! Just to prove the short distance between many of the islands.

I enjoyed FP--especially Bora Bora--very beautiful water and scenery.

There is not much shopping on these islands--once you get past the black pearls, flowers, pareas, vanilla beans, etc. Enjoy the scenery, relax, and have a good time!!
