Credit Card Charges on Cruise lines

My husband and I got back from a 7-day Alaska Cruise on July 19th. Although we've done several cruises, this is the first time we've put separate credit cards on file for onboard charges...my card for my charges and his card for his charges. As of today, July 26, my credit card charges haven't shown up yet on my credit card account. I am not critical of the cruise line, since we did have a lovely time on board. I'm simply not sure if this type of lag is industry standard, especially when you consider that these cruise lines are processing charges weekly for approximately 2,100 people per ship on the Alaska run. I appreciate any feedback.

Possibly a little early but ime those charges usually show up quite quickly. Because you owe them, I would assume they will find you sooner rather than later!

I assume his charges showed up and did not include yours so they are not all lumped together.

However it's weird your charges are so far behind. Ours show up usually w/I a day or two.

I imagine yours will show up. Do you have the invoice that is usually given to by early on disembarkation day? It so and its been charged then I think it will come.

Thanks for the responses. I'll be following up with hubby's card charges and with the cruise line if required.

Sure enough, the cruise line put everything on my husband's card. I'll be contacting them to make them aware of the error. We can sort out the bill amongst ourselves, but it also defeats the purpose of having separate credit cards on file.

I wonder how that happened. If you preregistered and listed separate CC's it should not have happened. If not then you usually give CC info at embarkation. Do you have any idea how this mix up occurred?

Sorry it did not go as you planned.

For what it's worth, this happened to me on my last cruise (everything was put on my credit card even though we gave them individual cards). And I agree it's annoying. Ironically, this was on Royal Caribbean, a sister company to Celebrity. Perhaps it's an issue with that company because it's never happened to me on any other cruise line.

I guess I would ask, "What is the big deal?" I would agree that maybe it will take 30 minutes to separate the bill but in the grand scheme of life I have had bigger problems.

The fact that there are Syrian refugees and climate change does not change the fact that this was bad customer service by cruise line. The fact that there were 2000 people on board should not matter - it is all automated. Even though you are married you are entitled to have charges made on the proper credit card; and similar to privacy. What if you chose to have 16 spa treatments and not tell your husband. Or if he was buying drinks for 9 bimbos.

They charged the wrong card; I would tell them, separate the charges yourself and move on.
