Cruise Credit

My husband and I are taking a cruise in June. My question is this. When you board and they run a authorization for your credit card, does anyone have any idea how much they usually block for say, a 7 day cruise? This is just one of those "I don't know" questions. I just wondered if anyone knows

No- they don't charge anything at all- it is like a hotel guarantee..they just hold the number and at the end of the cruise, they charge all your cruise bills to that card...

Charging things and putting a hold are two different things.

If you check into a hotel, they will put a "hold" on a certain amount of money on your credit card. That's why it is important never to put your hotel reservation on your VISA/Master/Card check card, because a hold is put on funds in your checking account.

Credit cards are a little different, but I am sure they put a hold on some of the fund balance of the card, although they don't actually charge that amount until you check out from the cruise.

I would check with your credit card company to get the "bottom line."

I would check with the cruise ship line. Just guessing now, but I would think the average cruise charge would be in the vicinity of $1,000. More or less. I would guess that much, but I would call to confirm with the Cruise Line.

pl......Most cruise lines block $100 - $150 per day per cabin, credit or debit card.So you are looking at $700 - 1,050 blockage for your cruise.I hope this helps and have a great time.
